First of all, a warm welcome to Thailand and our tour: “Phuket Culture & History.

This tour is to bring you close to a combination of culture heritage, history and places of interest.

We are showing you (Routing depends on the location of the 1. pick up hotel), beside century old Sino- Portuguese Architecture, coming from Patong along the scenic west-cost, Karon and Kata. Heading toward to the east, we are climbing up Nakkered Hill by car/minibus and arrive at Mingmongkol Big Buddha. Thailand’s largest statue with 45 meters. From over there we have another spectacular view to the south of Phuket, Chalong- Bay, Rawai Bay and Kata. A short drive will bring us to Wat Chalong, this temple is Phuket’s most beautiful and South Thailand’s most famous renowned monastery. It enshrines the gilt statues of monk hero Luang Pho Chaem and his assistant Luang Pho Chuang, both highly revered by local Thai’s because of their roles in quelling the Chinese Coolie tin miner rebellion in 1876 A tin mine museum, we will visit in the afternoon. A short drive brings us to Phuket Town. Phuket Town turns 1933 as the capital and Phuket itself as an independent Province. A short stroll around the town leads us to over 100 years old buildings, where movies such as “Young Indiana Jones” and “Heaven and Earth” were filmed.

Lunch in wellknown local restaurant.

After lunch we drive further to the Tin Mine Museum in Kathu. In the 14 th – 18 th century a large amount of tin resources were discovered and quarried in strip mining until 1997 In the year of 1999 the planning of the museum started and opened in October 2010. There are two divisions, one outside and one indoors. Outside the open pit is shown. Conveyor belt system, Loren and a quarry are to be admired. Indoors the tin mining is shown on models. Since the majority of workers were Chinese, it is shown how the people lived there. Also a collection of gems and minerals is shown, and much more.

The final of the day crowns the Gibbon Monkey Rehabilitation Centre and Bang Pae Waterfall in a National Park, south of the Heroine Monument of Thalang.
