Phang Nga Discovery (PND)

Phang Nga, is already mainland and the neighboring province of Phuket. Under province, we understand what you at home are calling state or county.

Phuket is separated from mainland by a small waterway and connected with the 660 m long SARASIN BRIDGE: Captain James Forrest reported in the year of 1784 from a narrow Isthmus, about 1 mile long, ½ mile wide and during high tide about 10 foot deep.

After an about 45 minute ride (depending of your hotel location) we will arrive in Thai Mueang, province of Phang Nga und go for sightseeing to a Sea Turtle Project in Khao Lampi Hat Thai Mueang Nationalpark. 8 species of sea turtles exists worldwide. Thereof are 5 species in Thailand and 4 species in the area of Phuket and Phang Nga. In November/December the sea turtles oviposit up to 100 of their eggs at the beach section of the national park which hatch after about 4 months in February und have to find their way to the sea by themselves, otherwise they cannot come back to shore. Because of sea turtles are very light- and noise sensible, –and a delicates among the inhabitants-, this section is strictly guarded by volunteers and during hatching no trespassing. Sick sea animals recover in this project and be released afterwards into the sea again. Beside full grown sea turtles and baby turtles you will see Anemone fish farming (NEMO FISH) and other marine creatures like lobster and multicolored corals.

We then heading towards to Ban Khao Lak to the Asia Safari Camp for elephant trekking. A spectacular, 1 hour long ride through forest and bamboo jungle follows and you have a magnificent view along the bay of Khao Lak. Khao Lak itself is just a small village with only a few private houses and resorts, however the whole area which covers about 30 km in length is called Khao Lak. Afterwards as a reward you can feed your elephant before we are visiting a small Mini Zoo together with e.g. protected gibbon monkeys, crocodiles, python snakes and other small animals.

Then we go to the View Point Restaurant of the park and enjoy our typical Thai lunch, composed of several dishes, fruits of the season, coffee or tea. Soft drinks included.

After lunch we continue to Ban Lamru and through farmland, where you can see the natural live of the farmer, to the bamboo raft station over where a cozy bamboo raft trip through tropical nature is waiting for you. Bamboo rafting with us is not an exciting wild water rafting with waterfalls and white water rapids, but rather a sedate ride with a rafter who will bring you safe and in good condition back to the landing pier. During your raft you have the possibility to stop for refreshing and swimming.

Refreshed and relaxed, with all the impressions of the day deep inside, we are driving back to Phuket and to your hotels. We wish you a nice day and enjoy your trip.
